Starting point
TRUMPF’s products are highly complex and need explanation. Many questions used to land directly with the sales and service team. TRUMPF wanted to answer B2B customers worldwide instantly, win more qualified leads and relieve its experts from routine questions, without adding headcount for international expansion.
How Ask TRUMPF works
What started as a generative AI chatbot now works as an autonomous agent:
- Product knowledge live from the PIM: the agent queries product data via API from the product information system and guides users to the right machine.
- Leads to the right expert: when the agent detects buying interest, it identifies the responsible sales expert by postcode or location and hands over the request with full context.
- Demo requests are captured in a structured way and forwarded to the responsible team by email.
Evolving without switching platforms
TRUMPF started in 2024 with a generative AI chatbot on its German website. Between December 2025 and March 2026 it moved to Agentic AI, followed by the rollout to the US website. The international rollout continues, with more markets to follow. All of this happened on the same platform and without adding support headcount.
